Movie Quote Murals

I have seen a lot of word art online and in stores recently, it seems to be really popular right now, and I think a lot of it is really fun. Our basement is movie / vintage movie theatre themed and I wanted some art that was not just a moive poster to go on the wall. S I thought that some word art of movie quotes would be great. I had never tried to paint so many words on something like this before so it was a learning process on how to make one of these.First I printed out all of the quotes that I wanted in various fonts. I taped these to the canvas while it was still in its wrapping to plot out how all of the quotes would fit. Then I took the wrapping off and painted the canvas. After a few coats I taped fabric transfer paper onto the canvas. Then placed the quote on top of this. Then using an embossing tool I traced over the out line of all of the quotes on the typing. When I took it off it looked like this. Then I painted over the quotes. After 3 coats of the white I wiped off any of the extra transfer lines which came right off with a little water. Then we have the final product.

Beginning

Hello Everyone!

I am starting this blog to share photos of my crafts, crafting tutorials, listings on my Etsy store, and exciting finds that others have posted on Etsy. If you want to know more about me or my store check out the About Me and About Petite Penguin Stores sections to the left and right on this page. The links to my Etsy Store can be found on the top of the left hand section.

For my first post I thought I would share a clip board that I made as a birthday present for a friend who is a teacher and whose birthday we are celebrating by going to see The Hunger Games.

I got the plain unfinished clip board at Michael's, I removed the clip part then painted it black. I made the stencil with my moms Silhouette machine and then stenciled the words in gold. After letting it dry for two days so that the paint would not run I polyurethaned one side and then two days later the other. I find letting the paint dry for at least a day before putting any polyurethane on is really important to stop the paint from bleeding, at least with the kind I use. I could have used a hair dryer to quicken the drying process of the polyurethane but I had the time so I let it sit. Once it was dry i put the clip back on and it was all done.

And one last thing, I got the idea for the title of this blog from the song "Dancing Through Life" from my favorite musical Wicked. Here is a link to the song for those interested.

Hope you all enjoyed this first post! I will be back soon with more.
